Photo of the Week: Aug 22-28, 2011
The date on this drawing says I drew it last November 7, 2005. And I can't even remember drawing it. I also found some doodles along with it, but by far, this is the best of them.

Elmo is jealous, a photo by Che Baldemor on Flickr.
My sister actually didn't have any idea that Elmo was at her back. I was busy with the internet when I glanced and saw this sight and couldn't let it pass without taking a shot. It looks like Elmo wants to be cuddled, too.

Photo of the Week: Aug 3 - 10, 2011
The weather started to get gloomy since last Saturday and that was the last time we saw our cat, Dinky (on the photo). Well, we already know her to be such a wanderer - gets back in time for dinner and most of the time misses lunch.
But this time, she was away for three days and two nights. She's been away that long that I was beginning to accept that she might not be able to come back.
But, she got back in time to lunch on my birthday, but she ate very light.
And she was this tired right after eating. And we've never seen her sleep this way.
We were guessing she was on a three-day-two-night trip to Boracay.
Don't you think so?

While Dinky's Sleeping, a photo by Che Baldemor on Flickr.
I always feel a certain calm watching cats while they sleep. It makes me feel relaxed and somewhat fulfilled that we have taken care of her. She's been with us for five years. I think our lives would never be the same without cats around.

Basket Full of Love, a photo by Che Baldemor on Flickr.
I was just exploring things around the house and the color of this basket made me want to take a photo of it.

I don't know, but dusks really make me feel melancholic at times. It makes me feel like something's ending and that I won't be able to get it back.

Photo of the Week: 24 Oct - 31 Oct, 2010
I took this yesterday. I went out before lunch (and it was kind of hot) and was actually looking for a butterfly or a dragonfly. But I was really, really glad that this tutubing karayom (damselfly) crossed my path as if posing for a shot. I had several, and this is the most memorable. (This photo is also here.)

| A Butterfly on a Yellow Bell |
Last week, I remember I posted the photo, 'Raindrops and Flowers' as a way of testing my digicam in shooting drops of water. While I was hunting for that 'drops' that I think would have the effect, I was surprised to find this butterfly perched on the flower. I, then, asked myself, 'Do butterflies fly even when it's raining?' as I was start aiming for a shot. It stayed there for a while, allowing me to take some shots. This is one of those opportunities.

Paete is home to the makers of the famous 'taka' or paper mache. Some time this month, one of my trips there greeted me with stores that changed their displays.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I always find a certain awe when I look at rivers. Where the water really comes from and where they actually go |
This was taken at the 'landing' area of the Riverview Resort at Barangay Sampaloc, Pagsanjan, Laguna last March 2010.

| Paragos (Filipino Sledge) |
I have heard of this when I was a kid. And as an adult, I wanted to see one. But not really to hold it or use it. I just wanted to see one and get a picture of it.
Then came the Anilag Festival of 2007.
I saw this paragos (Filipino sledge) in one of the exhibit boots.
The paragos is made of wood and is drawn by the kalabaw (carabao or water buffalo). It used to be a means of transportation for our natives; not just for produces but humans, too.
It is just one of those many things that make me feel Filipino. It has the ability to make me think back years before I was even born. The paragos takes me back to those old movies of simple life like they showed in those old movies. People living in a nipa hut in the middle of a ricefield with a mountain on the background.

Nothing But Courage |
This one caught my eye when I was in town back in 2007. If I am not mistaken, I took it when I was to leave for Dubai in a matter of days. It caught my eye because the flag that these Katipuneros were holding were totally torn. What I was thinking at that time I took the shot was, "How can you fight for something that is totally damaged, torn and vandalized." But we continue to fight, even if there is nothing left. We have the courage, the spirit, the hope.
I guess my thought is still true nowadays, considering what happened last August 23, 2010.
But, we, the Filipinos, don't lose hope. We keep on fighting.
