Landslide at Pantukan, Compostela Valley

This happened at dawn today.  At least sixteen people were killed, and a lot are missing.  Upon accessing this video above on YouTube, I saw this other video (those that are on the right side): A Tribute to the Pantukan Landslide Victims.  I thought that it was uploaded today, but it turned out, when I looked at the date, it was last April of 2011.  
It hasn't been a year, and yet, this is another landslide.  I find it really disturbing.  
It is really sad that we still haven't moved on from what happened to Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City, another wrath of nature has happened again.  And the even sadder part is that, it seems that this is the product of illegal activities around these places.

Time's POY 2011

I've been reading the tweets about Time's Person of the Year 2011.  The tweets says something like: Time's Person of the Year 2011 is The Protester.  I had no idea who was that.  I thought it was someone from somewhere trying to make a difference in his/her country.

But, grapeshisha, a blog that I follow,  led me to the story.

• So, the new teleserye, 'Budoy' has started last Monday.  It's funny how they created the premise to Chinggay's demise.  Since Len-Len was hired she was cooking sisig for several days, that, when Chinggay requested her to cook it again the next day, Len-Len could not help but sayd, "Eh Ate, ilang araw na tayong sisig ah."  But of course, she didn't win since Chinggay is the boss.  After a few days, Chinggay had a heart attack and eventually died.  

• I could not help but react with this secretary's possession of long firearms, particularly the AK-47.  I happened to watch a portion of his press conference that happened a few days ago.  I landed on the part where someone from asked him if he was trained to use that kind of gun.  The secretary answered indirectly.  He said that syempre he has some background with some training some years back.  And I say:

Dear Mr. Secretary: 

Would you rather that you use a gun that you just have 'some' training to save your life?  Or you would you rather use something that you are familiar with even if it's not high-powered? 

Because I'd rather use a low power gun that I am in harmony with than a high-powered one that I am not familiar with.  Hindi ba parang mangangapa pa po kayo in using the high-powered gun given that 'some' training that you were talking about? 

David killed Goliath with only a slingshot that I'm sure he can use even with his eyes closed.

• Have you observed this newscaster who always have something to ask to the field reporter?  I could not help but notice how he ask for questions that seem to fish for something that would go against the government.  It seems that he always wants to look for someone from the government (a government that he once served, too, as vice-president) to blame for what is happening; that it looks as if kulang na lang isisi niya ang bagyo sa mga tao sa gobyerno.

• Jade of My Binondo Girl is a very good example of a suwail na anak.  Her father wouldn't have suffered from a heart attack if not for her long-time deception  Now, her mother is telling her to stop, but she, again, defies her mother.  She says she does not want anything to happen to her father.  This teleserye is really a teleserye of defiance and deception.

~ As much as I am irked by the lies of Rowena del Rosario, I feel bad about it that the people like her - the subordinates - are the ones being grilled.  Simply because their bosses refuse to go to court and answer those questions that are being thrown at them.

~ A beautiful wife and a handsome husband doesn't always guarantee good-looking kids.  Take for example those kids a the milk commercial.  At least in my opinion, they are not as good-looking as their mommy nor their daddy.

~ About a few weeks ago, my nephew sent me a message.  He said he saw a tv ad that reminded him of me.  He said the ad says, "I have cancer, but cancer doesn't have me."  I try to remember it everyday since.

~ Back in 1988, one of my college room mates and best friends went to Europe and brought me this (picture below) as her pasalubong.  She said it was from Lourdes, France.  It was of rose scent that slowly faded away in time.  I had it with me since.

~ I couldn't exactly say how a five-year-old kid reacts on not having a father - not being a parent myself.  But I think Jade of "My Binondo Girl" is over-reacting.  Masyado naman yatang pina-OA ang situwasyon.

~ I guess I will have to deal with this thing on my back called spondylosis.

~ A beautiful quote from the book, "Story of a Soul" by St. Therese of the Child Jesus, which I am reading now.  "When I think of the past, my sould overflows with gratitude when I see the favors I received from heaven."
