I was out most of the day today. I had like two client calls in the morning and both of them were good. The first one was an Indian who was very nice and soft-spoken. The next one was with a Filipina whom I have been corresponding with for like two weeks now. She had several insurance inquiries and we became friends somewhere along the way.
The third one was not a pre-scheduled appointment since I just figured I had to meet him right away. He called me on my mobile asking for a medical insurance for them and we met and he signed an application form. He is an Afghan with an Indian wife.
Indian, Filipino, Afghan. Three nationalities. During our training, we have been told that there are more or less 192 nationalities living here in Dubai and I have met only three or four. Ever since I have been going out for client calls, I realized that this is indeed a multi-cultural country. Actually I am amazed by this. Right now, I am thinking of getting books that will enhance my knowledge of the culture of Dubai as well as other cultures.
During one of my trips, I again have the chance to go to one of my favorite places here in Dubai. They call this Abra, but the place that I had to visit was the 'Wholesale Textile Market.' I was actually surprised that this was a place at the Abra, and I have been there quite a number of times and didn't know it was named that way… hehehehe…
It was after 12.00 noon when I got there. The alley was still alive as you can see, but by lunchtime (which is at 1.00 here), most of the shops will be close and would reopen at 4.00 p.m.
While waiting for the lift back to my office, I had this idea of taking a picture of me inside. This is how it came. I focused my camera phone at the ceiling to take this picture… hehehehehe...
Later in the afternoon, I had to get back for some more information and decided to go by boat, crossing the creek and getting the ride home.
I sat down and stared at the water, because I miss it. Whether rain nor river nor beach, I miss it. This is the view while the boat was in motion and crossing the creek. Below is the usual view, my favorite view, of the creek.
Anyway, about a few weeks ago, when we were experiencing hours and hours of waiting for the bus to come, I had the chance to take this picture…
We are the girls reflected on the bus, seated on the bench… hehehehe… From left to right, it's Ara, Russel, Tessie, Carol and me.
Too much for diversity and taking pictures… I never get tired of it. In fact, I'm dreaming of getting my dream camera…
